Shoe Size Converter — International Size Charts
Buying shoes online or from international brands means dealing with different sizing systems. Our Shoe Size Converter instantly converts between US, UK, EU, and centimeter measurements for men, women, and children — all running in your browser with no data sent anywhere.
Understanding Shoe Size Systems
US Sizing
The United States uses a Brannock system where sizes are based on foot length in inches with a fixed offset. Men's and women's sizes use different scales — a women's US 8 is roughly equivalent to a men's US 6.5 (1.5 sizes difference). Half sizes provide finer granularity.
UK Sizing
British sizing is similar to US sizing but with a different offset. UK sizes are approximately 0.5 to 1 size smaller than US men's sizes. The UK system is used throughout the United Kingdom, Ireland, India, and many Commonwealth countries.
EU Sizing
European sizing uses the Paris Point system, where one size equals ⅔ of a centimeter (6.67mm). EU sizes are unisex — the same number applies to both men and women for the same foot length. Common adult sizes range from 35 to 48.
Centimeter (Mondopoint)
Measuring foot length in centimeters provides the most accurate basis for conversion. This is the system used in Japan (known as Mondopoint) and is increasingly adopted by international brands for online sizing.
Size Charts
The converter includes comprehensive size charts for three categories:
- Men's: 15 sizes from US 6 to US 14 (24–32 cm foot length)
- Women's: 14 sizes from US 5 to US 12 (22–29 cm foot length)
- Kids': 14 sizes from US 1 to US 13 (8.3–19.2 cm foot length)
How to Measure Your Foot
- Timing: Measure at the end of the day when your feet are largest (feet swell from walking).
- Setup: Stand on a piece of paper against a wall with your heel touching the wall.
- Mark: Have someone mark the position of your longest toe (which may not be your big toe).
- Measure: Measure the distance from the wall to the mark in centimeters.
- Both feet: Measure both feet — use the larger measurement.
- Width: If you have wide or narrow feet, consider going up or down half a size.
Tips for Online Shoe Shopping
- Brand variation: Sizes vary between brands. Nike tends to run small, New Balance larger. Always check brand-specific charts.
- Read reviews: Online reviews often mention whether a shoe runs large or small.
- Consider socks: If you'll wear thick socks (hiking, winter), measure with those socks on.
- Break-in period: Leather shoes may stretch slightly. Athletic shoes generally don't.
