Whether you are a student writing an essay with a strict limit (min 500 words), or a social media manager crafting the perfect tweet, knowing your metrics is essential. Standard text editors give you a count, but they don't give you analytics.
The Word Counter is a dashboard for your writing. It measures length, complexity, and performance.
Detailed Metrics
1. Basic Counts
Words, Characters (with/without spaces), Sentences, Paragraphs.
2. Speaking & Reading Time
If you are writing a speech for a wedding or conference, "1000 words" means nothing. You need to know "How many minutes is this?"
- Reading Time: Based on 225 WPM (Silent reading).
- Speaking Time: Based on 130 WPM (Public speaking pace).
This allows you to trim your script to fit exactly into a 5-minute slot.
3. Keyword Density
For SEO (Search Engine Optimization), repeating a word too often ("Keyword Stuffing") gets you penalized. Our tool identifies your most frequent words (1-word, 2-word, and 3-word phrases) so you can ensure variety.
What Counts as a Word?
It sounds simple, but it's not.
- Is "hyphenated-word" one word or two? (Usually one).
- Is "user@example.com" one word?
- What about CJK languages (Chinese/Japanese) that don't use spaces?
Our tool uses advanced introspection to count correctly across different languages and contexts.
